Summary
Google Private Cloud (formerly Anthos Private Mode) is a fully isolated platform designed for organizations with strict data sovereignty requirements. Unlike traditional cloud offerings, it allows customers to deploy and manage applications in environments completely disconnected from Google and third-party vendors. After a year working on Anthos, I was selected, alongside one UX designer and one UX researcher, to help define and design this entirely new product experience.

Working as part of a small UX team, I helped translate the Anthos experience into a new platform designed from the ground up for isolated environments. This required rethinking core workflows, interaction patterns, and system behaviors to function without connectivity to the broader Google Cloud ecosystem.
I collaborated closely with engineering partners to ensure the platform aligned with stringent technical constraints and operational realities of sovereign deployments. Together with my UX designer counterpart and UX researcher, we rapidly iterated on the experience under an accelerated launch timeline.
We conducted a targeted usability study that surfaced critical customer needs, which resulted in 13 UX improvements incorporated into the final platform design. I also partnered with a UX Writer to refine copy and ensure clarity across the end-to-end platform.
Despite aggressive deadlines, we successfully delivered UX for both the limited GA and the full production launch.
Impact
The launch of Google Private Cloud unlocked $XXX million in customer opportunities. Combined with the Infrastructure Management capabilities (another project I led UX for), these offerings unlocked $XX billion in new business potential for Google Cloud.
